Personal: Random Update on Life (Video + Mini Tour)

Today is… video day!! Yay, it’s been ages, it even felt weird talking to myself in my new home for the very first time. New set-up, new lighting, finding the best angle to film. All the things I was used to while filming I kind of had to re-disover. Anyway, here’s a small update, one of my first real vlogs really, on my life. At the end you’ll also be able to see my new working space, how I’ve arranged all the blogging material and such. I hope you enjoy!

Event: Etat Pur

Etat Pur

One of the press presentations I attended last week was this one for Etat Pur. From Bruges to Antwerp and from Antwerp to Brussels, I managed to reach the Top Secret Communication headquarters and meet up with some fellow bloggers.

First, we had a good time taking pictures, nibbling on some snacks and pre-discovering Etat Pur, before getting all serious, taking a seat, ready to hear what this new brand was all about. Philippe Vincent (co-founder) and Aurélie Guyoux presented the brand and answered all of our questions. Mais, tout en français, so let me tell you, I had to really concentrate! But I think I did ok and picked up the necessary info..

New In: Angel Eau de Toilette by Thierry Mugler

Angel Eau de Toilette

Last week I randomly stopped by at Paris Londres, looking for these loafers, which in fact, I had spotted earlier that day on Lisha’s blog. However, Bruges apparently doesn’t sell these, so I might have to squeeze in another city trip to Antwerp or Brussels in the near future. Or I might just wait until I get my hands on the similar Steve Madden loafers.

Anyway, moving right along. As I was hunting down the store, I suddenly froze, went back a few steps and just stood there. Seconds, minutes, Lord knows how long. And I just sniffled, standing there and trying to orientate where this heavenly scent was coming from.

Press Days AW12

Press days usually mean rushing back and forth, keeping an eye on the clock, without any time to waste. This time however, I decided differently. A two-day trip to Antwerp, with an overnight stay at Hotel Sir Plantin, allowed me to visit the press agencies one by one, no rush, no stress.

The main things that drew my attention last week were the shoes, lovely materials, sunglasses and drinks. I fell in love with the studded and leopard loafers, Prada sunglasses which I have been eyeing for over a few months now and the colorful sequined shirts. Cointreau, Martini and Piper Heidsieck also had some catchy items.

As for beauty, I didn’t come across a huge range of interesting products, except for Caudalie, Le Petit Marseillais and Kiehl’s of course. In between, I was able to squeeze in two press presentations though, but I’ll be talking about those (new) brands very soon!

For now, I’ll leave you with a picture overview of the now “highly-on-Laura’s-wishlist” items.

Review: Crushed Cabernet Scrub by Caudalie

Caudalie crushed cabernet scrub

Developed by Caudalie Laboratories, their signature scrub based on the vinothérapie concept, has made way into my bathroom. I received this one during the previous press days in, I think it was September. Or in other words, decades ago. Up until mid-March, I hadn’t touched it yet because I had so many other products to try out. But having moved in with my boyfriend, spent time packing and unpacking, the scrub caught my eye again, and I decided it was about time this one saw daylight.

NOTD: From Numbers to Names

Pronails - 269

Lately, I’ve been playing around a bit with my nail polishes, changing colors every three to four days, just having fun and finding the right shade for spring. First color I picked, somewhere last week, was an orange, even peachy color, but then the weather decided to go back to uhm what.. freezing?!

So I immediately went for a drastic change of color and picked out this blue one by Pronails. It’s one of the ab fab colors of the “London is Blogging” collection, a collection inspired and composed by.. yes, bloggers.

London is blogging

As much as I love this color though, I would have hoped for some fun names, I think that would have been an exciting challenge for these bloggers. I mean, I’d definitely be able to fill up some spare time thinking of catchy names, wouldn’t you? I did however, hear a soft whisper about Pronails changing their polish numbers to names, so hooray, let’s hope they do. Soon!

But for now, I have to introduce this color as the number 269. What do you think of it?

How To: Professional Look + Zara Giveaway

THIS GIVE AWAY IS CLOSED, THANKS FOR PARTICIPATING! :-)

Professional Look

There’ s a time when you finish school, you graduate and in most cases, the first thing on the to-do-list is applying for a job. Or perhaps graduation belongs to the good old days, and you’re a business (wo)man mastering all the details of the job. Either way, applying for a job, attending or leading meetings.. creating and leaving behind a first professional impression is crucial.

Today I’ll share with you my tips for a first good impression, fashion wise. There’s only one chance at leaving a good first impression, so better make sure you do it right. The first thing anyone sees or notices is the way you dress, the way you’ve chosen to profile yourself. It’s the moment when a person creates their first judgment or opinion about you.
